Dear MAST Parents,
My name is Sujeiry Gonzalez and I am excited to introduce myself as your new Parent Coordinator. I wanted to share a little bit about myself in order to connect with you, as we work side by side to accomplish great things together at MAST.
Let’s start at the beginning! I grew up in Washington Heights, a neighborhood in Manhattan that was rough around the edges; yet, I beat the odds and thrived both academically and professionally, finding great success working at nonprofits and in the public school system. It’s easy to allow our environment and circumstances to stifle us, but I took in the chaos that surrounded me and expressed my fears, concerns and triumphs on paper. I began to write in a journal at a young age to escape the noise and clear my head. I still do. I also push through and find ways to better myself despite life’s obstacles. I find joy in helping and guiding others, collaborating with a team, being creative, my 2-year-old son, Evan – and singing karaoke. (It’s my “American Idol” moment.)
All in all, I am thrilled to be a part of the MAST family. I cannot wait to organize creative, technical, financial and empowerment workshops for you. Lastly, we, at MAST High School, will be communicating with parents via Skedula, our new social media pages, and our new website, masths.org.
That is me, in a large nutshell. I look forward to building MAST into a successfully academic school that nurtures students and parents in all ways. I can’t wait to begin with all of you by my side.
