Greetings MAST Parents, Guardians and Families,
First, allow me to extend my gratitude to all of the parents that were able to join us for our first Reopening Parent Town Hall Meeting held on July 28th, 2020. If you were unable to attend, you can use this link to view the brief meeting. Based on information from Central NYC DOE, our parent meetings, school surveys and teacher town halls held this summer – our plans for the fall are coming together. As we continue the work to prepare for next year, I cannot stress enough the importance of our families being actively engaged in the planning process.
Thank you to those of you that participated in the first phase of our model selection process, by completing the survey to indicate your model preference. After reviewing the results of the completed surveys and our building’s capacity data, our school has decided that Model #1B is the model that best meets the needs of our students and our families. Below is a brief outline of the model that was selected.
We know that adjusting to social distancing norms will be challenging for our students. Students and staff will be wearing face masks during the school day as part of our health and safety standards, and we want students to begin getting ready. Please check out this helpful resource, which has suggestions that will make wearing a face mask less intimidating to students.
DOE Central will hold the next Family and Student Information Sessions on August 12th and August 27th. You can learn more about those events here. The citywide events are being recorded and you can see the uploaded videos here. You can register to attend the citywide event here, and interpretation will be available in Spanish and Mandarin.
Please join us on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 5pm – 6pm for our 2nd of multiple schoolwide Reopening Parent Meetings. The purpose of this meeting is to provide you with important information about the program model that our school plans to use in the fall, and other re-opening updates. This information session will also serve as an opportunity for you to ask questions. The deadline for selecting remote learning only (no in-person instruction) on the Learning Preference for your child is Friday, August 7th, and we want you to have the information you need to make that decision.
The meeting will be held via Zoom Conference and the Meeting ID is: 966 2256 4776. The passcode is uh1MLG6Nf2
