A Senior’s Outcry

By: Daequan Danvers

Coronavirus has ruined our senior year. The Coronavirus which began in Wuhan, China in December, has expanded to touch nearly every corner of the globe.  Hundreds of thousands of people around the world have been sickened and thousands of others have died.  Unfortunately, the numbers include family members of many high school seniors and teachers.  It’s an emotional breakdown for not only high school seniors, but for everyone around the world.

This virus affects our senior year because we can’t get the necessary help to complete an assignment that is given.  Despite the pressure of so much online work, we still try our best to complete it all.  However, some teachers ignore the fact we have responsibilities to take care of and teachers should be more understanding and remember we have to finish assignments on our own.  We are not robots.  During this crisis I think teachers should have more leniency for not only seniors, but high school students in general.   We all need a break to focus on ourselves during this period and reminisce on our loved ones who have passed from this virus.  Instead we have online classes to attend and an unmanageable amount of work to be completed.

Also, seniors especially are already upset because some seniors already paid for trips, graduation pictures, senior dinners, prom etc.  Now some seniors don’t know if they’re going to graduate, so at least a manageable amount of work to do would help.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we shouldn’t receive any work, but be more thoughtful during this time.  The coronavirus has done tremendous damage throughout the world, affected so many lives worldwide, and taken lives.  It also affected high school students spiritually, mentally, and physically.  I really hope there’s an end to this. Teachers need rest and seniors need to receive their diplomas.
