Should student athletes be allowed to sit in the cafeteria to wait for their coaches?
I am a student-athlete at MAST High School. My sport generally starts at 3:30, and I get out of school at 2:37. That is almost an hour of waiting in the lobby for my coach. Humanities and the Arts students get out at 3:00, while BFIT & Health students normally get out of school at 3:30. These students do not have to wait as long as I do. During the winter, many student athletes complain about waiting in the cold lobby, but the security guards normally do not allow us to stay in the cafeteria. This is because we don’t have an adult with us; however, there is a simple solution to that! One of the security guards could stay in the cafeteria with the student athletes until their coaches arrive. I know this would be a big change in the school, but I know it would make a difference.
