USER CENTERED DESIGN
The main responsibility of the industrial designer is to use natural and synthetic materials and sophisticated technology to design objects that serve a useful purpose and usually that can be mass-produced (for the public).
As a designer start with "why" and "what if" questions, asked from the point of view of the person who will be using your product. Your answers will then help you create your design.
Example questions:
"Why do I have to always be sitting when I am at my desk"
"What if my desk could be sometimes high and sometimes low?
"Why do I have to take my eyes off the road when I'm driving and want to change the radio station?"
"What if I could tell my radio to do things with my voice?"
