Write Your Representative! in Google Classroom

Write Your Representative!

Utilize the guide provided below to help you construct your letter to your representative. You may choose to write about any issue that you would like your representative to address.

The representative that you write should depend upon whether the issue you are hoping to be addressed is a National, State, or Local issue. For example, if your issue is the Federal minimum wage; your letter should be addressed to your National Representatives (U.S. Senate or U.S. House of Representatives). If your issue is more local, like if you think the streets aren't cleaned frequently enough, you would write your letter to your NYC Council Member.

10/12/21 - Articles of Confederation

The United States government has operated under the U.S. Constitution since 1789. However, the U.S. Constitution was NOT the first governing document of the United States; that honor goes to the Articles of Confederation which dictated the rule of law in the United States from 1781 to 1789. So, Why did the United States adopt the U.S. Constitution rather than stay with the Articles of Confederation?

Complete the attached Google form to gain insight into why the Articles of Confederation were replaced by the U.S. Constitution!
