Inclusivity Commitment

Queens South High School’s Inclusivity Commitment at Mathematics Science Research and Technology High School is that we strive to create and sustain an environment that is free from bias, prejudice, and discrimination to enable all members to thrive in the MAST High School community. We welcome, promote, and seek to empower multiple dimensions of diversity, and are actively working to dismantle systems, policies, and practices that serve as barriers to true inclusion at MAST High School. We offer the least restrictive environment for all students with disabilities and ensure that Individualized Educational Plans are created with the student as part of the team meeting. At MAST High School students’ ideas, opinions and input are very important in mapping out the best possible education for them to succeed intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Every child with a disability has the right to what is called a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and at MAST High School, we are committed to the full participation of all students in our programs and activities and make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations so that students can be ensured equal access. We strive to help students merge the narratives of who they are with their academic and professional commitments. At MAST High School, we honor and value the unique perspective of each individual and celebrate the ways staff, students and their families from different backgrounds and experiences lend their lived experiences to shape and contribute to our school’s mission and vision.
