AP Biology 2022-2023 Assignments

Living systems are organized in a hierarchy of structural levels that interact.

You will become an expert on the organelles or sub-cellular components chosen randomly during spin the wheel.

You will describe the structure and/
or function of sub-cellular
components and organelles using the internet and/or text.
You will mingle with your peers to discuss each others organelles or sub-cellular components.  As you mingle, record the structure and function of your peers' organelles(sub-cellular components).


Based on your discussions, you will explain how another organelle(or sub-cellular component works with your organelle(or sub-cellular component) to maintain homeostasis in a cell?

You will watch the Bozeman Video on Proteins and Nucleic Acids. You will use the google document to:

1. Describe how the structure and function of proteins impact how the monomers of proteins are formed.
2. Describe the structural
similarities and differences
between DNA and RNA.  

You can include images and diagrams in your description.

 You will work collaboratively in groups of 2-3 to review the Biological Molecules Question Sheet.  You will use Bozeman's Video on Biological Molecules as a resource to answer the questions.  Your responses will help support our lesson on Monday, November 28th.  Each person must submit their own document.

Using your informative visual poster, you will explain how the structure allows water to have unique properties.  This should be done individually and IN YOUR OWN WORDS.

You and your partner will watch the Amoeba Sisters video on the Properties of Water.
While watching the video, you will record important facts discussed about the properties of water.  You and your partner will formulate at least one question you have about the properties of water.

You will create a informative visual for your peers about the properties of water using scientific academic vocabulary.

How would you interpret this quote,“All life and products of life are composed of matter?” Justify your interpretation.

You will read Chapter 2.1 Atoms, Isotopes, Ions and Molecules –Chemistry pages 39-56. This chapter introduces the chemical principles that are related to the AP Biology covered throughout the course.

In groups of 2, you will summarize the main points highlighted in this chapter using the attached google document. You can include images and diagrams to support these main points.  You can use one document for your summary. Please make sure to put both group members names on the document and email me to let me know whose document I should grade. The summary is due on Tuesday, October 18th.
